Hello Athletes and Parents,

These are TVHS supports that have been adopted in order to facilitate post-secondary opportunities.  This is primarily collaboration between parents, the Guidance Department and the Athletics Department, with a focus of creating options for our student-athletes who have aspirations of playing at the college or university levels:

1.  As soon as possible, the student’s family should notify the Guidance Department (their Counselor) of the desire to continue their career (if it is possible), at the next level, i.e. community college, Division 1, 2, or 3 etc.  This track is most successful when starting during the student-athlete’s 9th/10th grade year.

2.  Once identified, the family should register with the NCAA eligibility center; this provides student-athletes and their parents with resources for NCAA eligibility.

3.  TVHS is in the process getting NCAA ‘Clear the Clearinghouse’ training for TVHS staff.

4.  NCAA Resource information – which is a component of the clearance process, posted in the Counseling Office, and on the Athletics website.

5.  Feel free to use the Transcript Eligibility Tool to monitor your son/and or daughter’s progress to determine eligibility for college athletics.  Click on the (blue) link (if online and not viewing a PDF) or paste the link (in red) in the url to view a list of TVHS courses that have been approved by NCAA:

High School NCAA Courses

Or

Go to NCAA.org and look for the approved NCAA and the TVHS corresponding courses.

Also, your counselor is available to help you with this process.

6.  Additional informational opportunities may include, but are not limited to: speaking with college representatives who visit TVHS throughout the school year, TVHS NCAA Night, communicating with the Guidance Department with any questions and accessing literature of the NCAA eligibility center (either online or in the Guidance office).

While these supports are here to help student-athletes, this in no way assumes liability for TVHS in regards to NCAA eligibility.  Ultimately, the responsibility for college eligibility is on the student-athlete and his/her parent/guardian(s) and the college.
